A Royal Decree was issued on 12/06/2003 endorsing a temporary law entitled "Deployment of Information technology Resources in Government Organization Law". The law was published in the Official Gazette on 16/06/2003. It basically aims at efficiently handling, procuring, managing and operating the logistics of information technology handling resources in the public sector. The main objective is to cost-effectively and qualitatively enhance the services of government organizations to ensure optimum national interest.
Clauses number (6 and 19) stipulated the establishment of a "National Information Technology Centre" as a legal successor to the National Information Centre.
NITC will be managed by a Board of Directors chaired by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology.
